Client Testimonials
I am an experienced therapist/counselor living in Spokane, Washington. I provide counseling to teens and college age individuals, counsel on life changes, parenting, divorce, relationships, as well as help with dating, love and communication. I serve the greater Spokane area and my office is located on the South Hill.
The problems that many of us face do not exist in a vacuum; they must be understood within the context of the overall relational or environmental system in which they operate. For example, it’s no secret that family dynamics can be complex and demanding and seem insurmountable and, at times, chaotic. During counseling, my aim is to help you gain clarity regarding the various factors that might be contributing to a particular issue, so that you can be empowered to arrive at your own solution.
As a therapist, one of the most important elements of my work is to take the time to really listen. Perhaps you haven’t felt the liberty to really talk about the problems you’re encountering when speaking with a friend or co-worker, or maybe factors within your family dynamic make you feel as though you can’t open up and express how you’re really feeling. I’m here to listen with intent and to provide you with a sounding board so that we can work together to get to the root of the issues. This process of therapy will lead to the discovery of practical solutions that you can apply to make genuine progress.
Sometimes certain changes or transitions take place that have the potential to bring lots of stress and/or anxiety to our lives. Perhaps it’s a situation within the family such as divorce, domestic abuse or stage-of-life changes, or maybe it’s more of an internal struggle such as depression, social anxiety or self-esteem issues. Whatever the case may be, the important thing to remember is that you are not alone. If you’re struggling to find answers to problems that simply seem unsolvable, the healthiest thing you can do is to reach out for help. Don’t allow shame, embarrassment or fear of the unknown to keep you from seeking the help you need. Contact me today to set up a first session, so that we can begin working together to make positive, productive changes in your life.
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Spokane, Washington
People who struggle with mental health issues don’t have to “just toughen up.” What they need is a family therapist in Spokane who can help them understand the underlying cause of their trauma, addiction, social anxiety, and sexual issues.
Whether you’re coping with life transitions or dealing with other triggers, I apply my decades’ worth of marriage and family therapy experience so you can gain clarity—and forge a path ahead.
To anyone who is suffering from different forms of mental anguish, know that you don’t have to face things alone. You can seek my professional advice on any of the matters below.
Family Therapy
As a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, I work with families who are going through issues such as divorce, death, and other major life changes.
The goal of family counseling is to improve communications so members can address conflicts in a healthy manner. I believe that this is the only way for family disfunction to be truly resolved. Fixing years of dysfunction is never easy, but a committed family counselor will convene loved ones so they can get on the same page.
Negative Emotions
Life will always have its ups and downs, but when it feels like the bottom has fallen out, psychotherapy for individuals and families is a viable option.
Grief counseling can help you accept the difficult and sudden loss of a loved one, while anxiety therapy gives you the tools to quiet your mind and overcome self-defeating thoughts. If you’ve been feeling down for a long period of time, counseling for depression can show you that there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
Gender issues
Being at ease in your own skin is one of life’s greatest feelings, yet it is one of the hardest things to achieve. Society’s heteronormative world view makes it even harder to be at peace with your sexuality.
I provide counseling for people who are just discovering who they are, and guide them on their journey towards self-acceptance. Whether you’re struggling to accept your sexuality or feeling like you were born in the wrong body (known as gender dysphoria), I can show you and your family how to embrace your most authentic self.
Your Mental Health Matters
If you’re struggling mentally for any reason, know this: asking for help is not a sign of weakness or lack of character.
In life’s ever-twisting narrative, sometimes you need an expert to help you make sense of the big picture. As a licensed marriage and family therapist and a specialist in psychotherapy for children and young adults, I am both a sounding board and a coach who is there to empower you to take the right steps.
